Visually inspect frame and fork for overall condition
Wheels are aligned and tightened properly in frame
Handlebars, stem and saddle aligned and fastened properly

Visually inspect for cracks and wear and properly inflate tires
Inspect handlebar grips, tape or cushion for adhesion and wear
Inspect and properly torque fasteners

Custom Wheel Building
Roadies, MTB, BMX – have your custom wheels built and serviced here. We've been in the business of building some of the best wheels for generations. Many of the local hard-core riders (racing and touring) have been riding on our wheels for years. Our current wheel builder has been applying his skills for over 20 years. Only the best for your wheels.
Top performing wheels start with proper design, the best components, and detailed preparation. All this – combined with years of experience perfecting build techniques, including tension-tuning and stress relieving – produces strong and responsive wheel sets. No spongy wheels here.

Fast Flat Tire Service
Same Day or Next Day service on flat tires only. Bring just the wheel in and get your flat fixed while you wait. Bring the whole bike in and receive next day or same day service, depending on our back log of service work.
Bearings Overhaul
Clean, lubricate and adjust headset, crank and wheel bearings. Labor only – any needed parts not included.

History
Wauwatosa’s Bike Shop Since 1939
1939
Johnson's Sporting Goods founded by "Doc" Johnson. John's father, Pete, and his future partners worked here following WWII.
1948
Johnson's is purchased by employees, including John's father, Pete.
Early 1970’s
With the bike boom of the 1970's, Johnson's became one of the largest Schwinn dealers in the area. Bicycles began to take up much of the store's display space. With other sporting goods and hobby items being plentiful and in high demand, the gun shop was phased out.
1980s
Johnson's continued to increase focus on bicycles and fitness equipment. During this decade the "sporting goods" became a smaller department and the fishing department was closed. The transition to a true bicycle shop was almost complete. During this time, Johnson's became very actively involved in supporting USCF riders with its own team, and also helped numerous local triathletes maintain their equipment and supplies.
1994
We moved to our current location in the fall, and Johnson's Sporting Goods became Johnson's Cycle & Fitness in recognition of bicycles and fitness equipment being its primary focus.

Today, Johnson's Bike Shop is a trusted and knowledgeable source for all things cycling-related, offering a wide selection of bikes, accessories, and apparel from top brands, and committed to promoting cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of transportation and recreation.
